Rain Day

I grew up just outside Boston, MA. So I lived for snow days. Some of my most beloved memories are made of coco, sleds, snow men and best friend next door. Well, my dd is having a rain day. They have had so much rain here in Dubai that the schools have shut because of leaking roofs and flooding roads. I don't think that my daughter will look back longingly on these rain days (they have closed the school tomorrow too) with the fondness I have for snow days. The sky is grey and solid. She does not have magical white crystals falling changing the dull scenery into a winter wonderland but heavy puddles dulled with sand and being trapped inside with only her parents, grandparents and a pissed off cat for company. No fun at all.

I will head out in a minute to convert the 'driver's ' room to my new work place. With DH home on gardening leave I realize that I will need to separate myself from the villa for a few hours a day to achieve any writing at all while he is home. Maybe tomorrow I can post some new photos of 'my space.' In the interim here's a picture of weather here as it normally is........

we've got the rain here Liz - floods everywhere so I expect her school would be closed were she here!

I just read that in the papers here! Hope you are surviving!

We are sick of the rain too so I sympathise with you and your daughter! Hope it stops soon.

And while you're about it, petition for an extra computer too!

I look forward to seeing your space. I imagine it as very neat and organized. Mine is like a black hole that collects every shred of paper delivered into this house.

It really is grim at the moment and I can't wait for the summer. Here's hoping we have a decent one to make up for all the rain.

Liz -- no wonder I feel a kinship with you...what town? I lived in Dedham, W. Roxbury and then later in Hanson, Whitman and Brockton.

We're under a flash flood watch ourselves, but then one expects that in New Orleans--not Dubai!

How nice to finally be creating your own space--and to soon have the time to spend in it.

Rebecca, the space will be tidy to start.....maybe I should post before and after photos!!!

Debs, a good summer would be bliss as last summer was terrible.

Lisa, I grew up in Malden and Centerville on the Cape. I had cousins who lived in Dedham and my Mum grew up in W.Roxbury. Small world:-)

C.S. Hope the floods don't happen. N.O. has been given more than its fair share of weather. We finally have sun here to day but in the past few days there has been 106mm of rain with no real drainage system!
