The Sun Shines Again in Dubai

The air is cool and hints at dampness. Sitting outside with Dh this morning was bliss. After all the grey skies I feel I have energy again.

My writing room is taking shape. I am off to Ikea in a few minutes to find a desk. The folding card table I first put in there just didn't work as a desk. Plus I need a lamp of some sort. I can't tell you how excited I am......

My parents finally managed to leave Dubai last night. My father sounded like a child as he rang to say they wouldn't be coming back. That makes it sound awful but they were bored and the weather didn't help. In a few hours time they will be back to their own routine in Sunny FL.

Finally, and I am not sure how this works but I hope they will forgive me if I give them credit....there has been some fabulous photos in the Gulf News and I wanted to share a few with you. The first on is Megan Harris's -

and the next is Atiq-Ur-Rehman's -

Rain Day

I grew up just outside Boston, MA. So I lived for snow days. Some of my most beloved memories are made of coco, sleds, snow men and best friend next door. Well, my dd is having a rain day. They have had so much rain here in Dubai that the schools have shut because of leaking roofs and flooding roads. I don't think that my daughter will look back longingly on these rain days (they have closed the school tomorrow too) with the fondness I have for snow days. The sky is grey and solid. She does not have magical white crystals falling changing the dull scenery into a winter wonderland but heavy puddles dulled with sand and being trapped inside with only her parents, grandparents and a pissed off cat for company. No fun at all.

I will head out in a minute to convert the 'driver's ' room to my new work place. With DH home on gardening leave I realize that I will need to separate myself from the villa for a few hours a day to achieve any writing at all while he is home. Maybe tomorrow I can post some new photos of 'my space.' In the interim here's a picture of weather here as it normally is........
