Links

I haven't done a links post in a while and this week have been full of some excellent ones...

First up is Joseph O'Connor sharing his writing tips here. Point number 4 especially spoke to me.

Picked this one off of Twitter this morning from Bob Mayer - Seven Keys To Unforgettable Characters here

There's a great article from the Gulf News here. In it David Hewson says, "Books come out of something that you invent; and writing about what you don't know makes you work to invent it more effectively." It's an interesting and thought provoking article.

That's all for now...

thanks so much for this! the O'Connor piece especially did it for me....so much that I'm going to print it out and stick it in my notebook for novel 3. there are new insights in there, plus old lessons forgotten at our peril. Really great!

Sue - I thought it was brilliant too and just stumbled on it by accident.

Hope they work for you Debs :-)

Great round-up. I missed the Joseph O'Connor post when it first went up, so I'm especially glad to have caught that now. The man is so wise and articulate and erudite...and I'll shut now and check out the other links later on today. Thanks for putting them in one post, Liz!

I found the O'Connor link really useful, he's like a friendly teacher grabbing you by the shoulders and taking a moment to look right into your eyes to make sure you're paying attention.

Andrew - that's exactly right!
