Okay, this was something I had sworn I wouldn't do...don't like heights. I love looking at the Burj Khalifa everyday. I never tire of it's beauty and last Wednesday had the privilege of eating dinner at the Armani hotel at it's base. Looking up at the tower at night with a full moon is hard to beat, but...this morning to prepare for taking 60 authors there as part of the social programme for the Emirates Airlines Literary Festival I went to the top...GULP. So I stepped into the lift and said my prayers (to myself) and we were there in 60 seconds...124 floors.
The view is breath taking - literally. I only had my phone with me so the photos don't do it just.

Wow, 124 floors in 60 seconds? Sounds like a great evening, and that view is quite spectacular!
Oh you are so brave. I couldn't do it, not even for a group of eminent authors.
Respect! Liz, I can hardly climb a stepladder without getting dizzy - but what an amazing view.
Talei - Yup, 124 floors in 60 seconds...
Didn't think I could do it but did...now will have to do again during the Lit fest :-)
Thanks Katie

Fantastic view, Liz, but looking at a photo is the only way I'd ever get to see it - I can't even get to the first level of the Eiffel Tower nor to the Observatory Platform of the Empire State Building, a mere 83ish floors up.
I hate heights, unless totally detached from the ground - i.e. I love flying and adored hot air balloon trips over the Nile.

Even the pics made my stomach flip over. I am terrified of heights and claustophobic so don't care much for lifts unless it's just a couple of floors. You deserve a medal!
these look like they were taken from an airplane. Amazing!
